Residual Bequest Language
A residual bequest comes to us after your estate expenses and specific bequests are paid:

"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to St. John's University, New York, Jamaica, New York, Federal Tax ID number 11-1630830, all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate."

Specific Bequest Language
You can also name St. John's University as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate:

"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to St. John's University, New York, Jamaica, New York, Federal Tax ID number 11-1630830, the sum of ________."

Contingent Bequest Language
St. John's University can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or personal trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled:

"If [name(s)] is not living at the time of my demise, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to St. John's University, New York, Jamaica, New York, Federal Tax ID number 11-1630830, ____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate."
